Review 4- Brand Designs and Designers
Brand Designs & Designers
The designer I decided to review is Robby Leonardi. His work interested me at first because of his interactive resume, and after further research his style as a whole is appealing to look at. He has completed projects for companies such as Fox and Speed TV. He has done things such as banners and animations, and even a video game like resume.
Introduction
He seems to take a more cartoon approach but has edited some more realistic things as well. The cartoon like style of his work helps apply it to a large variety of topics, and it allows the overall appearance to be simple yet complex.
His portfolio is unlike any I've seen before, granted I don't typically look at them. The effort is amazing with all the various animations put onto one page. It's colorful without causing too much eyesore. It has a childlike feel while still retaining it's professionalism. Overall his portfolio is stunning and enjoyable to look at.
Within his work, their seems to be themes of games, a direct example being his resume. Another example could be his website design meant for children. Its expressed via the bright colors and background of his website. The various creatures throughout also help express that theme.
Analyzing a specific Example
His Interactive Resume is a good example of his work by showing design, animation, and coding skills all in one project. It was made to show his accomplishments and improvement as well as to provide contact at the end. It conveys a strong sense of creativity and skill. he uses space, color and shape very well to make a small world come to life. The interactivity of it is appealing and interesting and its just an amazing experience to run through it. The elements used help you notice various things within the resume, making it both easier and more difficult to look at the actual meaning for making it,
- How are these elements of design used to communicate the ideas you see expressed.
- What are your thoughts & opinions on the crafting of this message. Is it effective, clever, moving? Does it appeal successfully to it's target audience & who is that audience?
Conclusion
- How do you think the design you chose was an example of the designer's method of communicating ideas through design?
- How does this designer's style & technique speak to you in your personal cultural perspective?
